E-Commerce Design

E-commerce design is no different from regular website design. Navigation, usability and appearance are important elements for both. However, e-commerce design goes one step further. Because making sales is its key purpose, an e-commerce site must properly represent the business and its goals. More importantly, those goals must interest the customer enough to translate into sales. There are five design fundamentals that every e-commerce site designer should keep in mind. They are: alignment (with business goals), purpose (the "reason" for the site), action (to be taken by customer), focus (on customer needs) and measurement (to evaluate site effectiveness). By incorporating these fundamental into the e-commerce site design, a business is more likely achieve their goals.
