Blogs

Blogs or weblogs are essentially online journals. They allow users to post their thoughts online for others to read. Blogs can range from general "what I did today" postings, to thoughts, opinions or research on particular topics. While most follow a chronological order as a diary would, others don't. Many act as specialized newsletters, where instead of being sent to readers, readers come to it. Blogs are essentially a quick, easy and inexpensive method for a user to reach millions of readers on practically any topic. Blogs can at times be profitable ventures with some users incorporating sponsorships, donations and targeted links on their blogs. This style of blogging is referred to as "nano-publishing". This is a very targeted and small scale type of publishing that is well suited to specialty topics.
