Application Servers

An application server is a key piece of software in all types of web services as it is the brains behind every web site. Any Internet-based application that puts forth personalized or dynamic content depends on these servers. They add intelligence to web sites as they enable sites to take data entered into a browser and run custom business logic on that input. In many instances application servers unite or work with web (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) servers and are called web application servers. Web servers provide various ways to forward requests to application servers and to send back modified or new web pages to users.
