It's different to dedicated web hosting, where clients are provided with servers but are responsible maintaining them. Managed hosting is ideal for websites designed to host e-commerce and dynamic, database driven pages. Unmanaged services allow clients complete remote server administration freedom as they are responsible for installing and maintaining the server. Unmanaged servers are good for people with server administration resources or expertise.
