Virtual Domains

A virtual domain is basically an extension of your original domain name, which is often called the actual domain. Once you have registered myname.com you can create branches or offshoots from this name such as anything.myname.com. These are called virtual domains. An example of this is email that can be sent to various recipients at the same domain name. When you support numerous domains on a single server, each domain served is commonly called a virtual domain. Various software programs define virtual domains differently. The simplest definition of virtual domain is when a single IP address is shared between multiple domains. You can take your domain name with you even if you change hosts and it won't affect your system.
